American fans of The Great British Bake Off have a reason to rejoice! Netflix has announced the premiere date for the show’s new season!
An update posted to Netflix on Tuesday reveals that The Great British Bake Off Series 13 premiere will be available on Friday, September 16!
The schedule follows the pattern set in previous years when episodes of The Great British Bake Off (dubbed The Great British Baking Show in the U.S.) appeared on Netflix three days after airing in the U.K.
Britain’s Channel 4, home channel for the Bake Off, teased the new season’s return last week. A 10-second clip posted to Twitter showed a distant view of the iconic tent as the show’s recognizable music played. The clip then showed a blue and white gingham cloth with words that read “Coming Soon.”
The following day the network confirmed the return of GBBO and shared news of a premiere date for its 13th series.
A cast announcement quickly followed and fans of the show were introduced to the 12 lucky bakers competing this season. (Meet the cast HERE.) The news riled up fans of the baking competition series who have been anxiously awaiting new episodes.
The Great British Baking Show returned to its original filming format this season after making drastic changes two years ago. In 2020, cast and crew were housed at Down Hall Hotel where they quarantined together to accommodate pandemic protocols.
Down Hall Hotel’s “98 rooms and 110 acres of parkland are available for bookings all summer, suggesting the show has moved on,” the Mirror reported earlier this year.
“We won’t be filming in a bubble this year, but protocols will be in place to keep everyone safe,” a show spokeswoman confirmed.
“All the team, particularly Prue [Leith], found it really tough not being able to go home each week. They are delighted that this year it will go back to the way it was, when they filmed at weekends and could leave during the week.”
The return of The Great British Bake Off will see Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith back as judges. Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas will be resuming their hosting duties.
