‘Great British Bake Off’ To Make History With New Co-Host Announcement

According to reports, Alison Hammond is expected to be named the new co-host of The Great British Bake Off.

Alison Hammond, a This Morning presenter, will succeed Matt Lucas as the new Great British Bake Off host. An official announcement is expected to be made soon, as reported by The Mirror.

“Alison is a great choice. She will bring warmth and humour to the tent in spades. We’re laughing just thinking about it,” a source told the newspaper.

At 48, Hammond will become the first non-white co-host or judge on the Great British Bake Off since it began in 2010.

Alison Hammond is a British television personality and actress. Her acting credits include roles in Palace Hill (1988-1990), Doctors (2002), and The Dumping Ground (2016).

In 2002, Hammond appeared on Big Brother and has appeared on other reality shows, including I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!, Celebrity Coach Trip, Strictly Come Dancing, Celebrity Masterchef, and I Can See Your Voice. She has been a reporter and presenter on ITV’s This Morning since 2002.

Matt Lucas, who announced his departure from the show last December.

He explained on Instagram that he was leaving after three series as he is no longer able to commit to the program due to his other projects, including his new hosting role on the revived comedy show Fantasy Football League.

He also expressed his gratitude towards the team, saying, “I would like to give my warmest thanks and gratitude to everyone at Love Productions and Channel 4 and to Noelipops, Paul, Dame Prue, the crew and, of course, the wonderful bakers for welcoming me into the tent. I wish whoever takes over all the very best and I can’t wait to tune into the next series without already knowing who won! xxx Matt”.

Alison Hammond will join returning co-host Noel Fielding. Longtime judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith will return to their roles. Filming will start on the Great British Bake Off‘s 14th season this summer.
