‘The Great American Baking Show’ Is Back With Big Changes

The Great American Baking Show is back! The American version of the beloved The Great British Bake Off released a first look at the new 2023 season on Wednesday.

The Great American Baking Show‘s return to television comes after a nearly-4-year hiatus.

The baking competition underwent some major changes, including a move from network television to the Roku Channel.

In addition to a new network home, the show is also boasting some new hosts. Actress Ellie Kemper and actor Zach Cherry took over hosting duties from NFL great Anthony “Spice” Adams and Emma Bunton of the Spice Girls .

The newly-released trailer for The Great American Baking Show‘s sixth season shows returning judges, Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith, sharing their expectations for this batch of American bakers.

“I’m rather hoping that these bakers will bring something new to the tent,” Prue tells cameras. “America genuinely is the great melting pot of the world.”

In a huge step out of the proverbial baking box, bakers were challenged with making mini hamburgers. The challenge appeared to be Paul Hollywood‘s idea as he declares, “I expect the Americans to understand what a burger is.”

Hollywood later says that he thinks this season’s bakers are” far and away” the best to ever represent America.

The new season announcement follows a star-packed holiday version that aired in December. Celebrities D’Arcy Carden, Joel Kim Booster, Chloe Fineman, Nat Faxon, Liza Koshy, and Marshawn Lynch all competed for the title of “Star Baker” on the Great American Baking Show: Celebrity Holiday. The new season of The Great American Baking Show will premiere on the Roku Channel on May 5, 2023.
