Sue Perkins Unveiled As Dragon On Masked Singer UK

Sue Perkins, the beloved comedian and former host of The Great British Bake Off, showed off her singing chops during The Masked Singer UK.

For seven seasons Sue Perkins graced our television screens alongside her pal Mel Giedroyc. The two served as hosts of The Great British Bake Off and can be credited for a great deal of the show’s success.

Never during her Bake Off tenure did Sue Perkins reveal that she could sing. In fact, she kept her talent tightly under wraps until it was revealed on The Masked Singer UK in 2021.

Perkins, 53, took to the stage behind the mask of a colorful, adorable dragon to demonstrate her singing skills. She made it as far as the semi-final round with covers of songs such as “You’ve Got A Friend In Me” and Celine Dion’s “All By Myself.”

When Sue Perkins was unmasked as the face behind the singing voice, the celebrity panel and viewers alike were in shock.

“Everyone should unleash their inner dragon, or blob, or whatever they’ve got,” said Perkins upon her elimination.

“Being Dragon is liberating and brilliant – I have been able to be playful and silly and childlike, and things you can’t be,” Sue added. “I would never ever sing, I am terrified of performing in public. What would be interesting is me singing without the mask, let’s see if it broke the spell for me.“

What is The Masked Singer?

The Masked Singer is a reality singing competition based on the South Korean show, King of Mask Singer. In the competition, celebrities perform while disguised in elaborate costumes. Clues are given to a panel of celebrity judges who are tasked with guessing the person behind the voice.  After each performance, the audience votes to determine who will advance and who will be “unmasked.” The singer receiving the least number of votes in each round is unmasked and eliminated until only one masked singer is left standing.
