Fans of television baking shows …. Baking Show Fans is a site just for you! My name is Tiff. I go behind-the-scenes, share news and stories that YOU want to see about our favorite baking-themed shows.

I’m an obsessed baker who applied for (and has been rejected by) more baking shows than I care to admit. The next best thing to competing myself is living my dream vicariously through those fortunate enough to make the cut.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve heard of The Great British Bake Off (or The Great British Baking Show for U.S. viewers).

The Great British Bake Off ignited a baking phenomenon that has manifested itself in numerous television competition shows. As home bakers discovered their love of baking and a platform for testing their skills and knowledge, shows like GBBO found incredible success.

GBBO first aired in 2010 and quickly became one of the most successful shows in British television history.

The show’s success has been credited to the unique nature of the show. 10 or more amateur home bakers go head-to-head in each episode to vie for the title of Best Home Baker. No professionals. No formally trained bakers. Just authentically amateur bakers who bake for the love of it.

The GBBO aired in the U.S. in 2014 under the name The Great British Baking Show. The term “Bake Off,” trademarked by Pillsbury, caused the name change in U.S. markets.

The Great British Bake Off (aka Great British Baking Show in the US) changed the face of baking competitions when it premiered in 2010.

The Great Holiday Baking Show aired a year later on ABC. It served as a test to see how American audiences would react to seeing their own in the iconic tent.

The American show renewed under the name The Great American Baking Show. The show has seen moderate success as it enters its fourth season. Let’s not forget that it took The Great British Bake Off four seasons to see success.

The Great American Baking Show is the American spinoff of the British favorite.
